Jodo Shinshu is Pure Land Buddhism as specifically interpreted by Shinran, and there are some things Shinran taught I do not agree with. In order not to be one, you need to either (1) not believe in Amitabha's primal vow, or (2) not wanting to get rebirth in Sukhavati, or (3) not have chanted even once his Name. Do you meet any of these three requirements? No? Then you still are a follower of the Pure Land tradition, even if you are also a follower of any other Dharma gate. Just my view. With Love. Jodo Shinshu is difficult to understand at first and I think this causes some would be Shin Buddhists to walk away. It took me a while to understand and now I'm stuck.
