Dai Chi: I feel like this is the setup of a good joke. “A Pure Land Buddhist from Ireland walks into a bar…” Just kidding. :) Yeah, the power of the Internet is amazing. I realize though that the flip-side is that the number of physical teachers and institutions can’t keep up with the speed that it spreads across the Internet. That makes things pretty lop-sided for guys like you and me.

Tornadoes28: I never have enough time to explore all the shops. Sensoji really is an all-day kind of thing, but from our house in Kawasaki, it’s quite a trip, plus with the little one. Maybe a few years down the line, I will just go by myself, hang out for a day, practice bad Japanese, and blow lots of money. :)

This was when I was there for New Year 2003.

I like the koi fish below the bridge.

It is very interesting to see what, to my eyes, is a very exotic setting and yet know that it is part of the lineage in which I practice. Then, when I consider that it was brought to me by a Pure Land practitioner living in Ireland, I am in awe of the reach of the Dharma. Thank you friend.

I hope you can go see it. I really liked Todaiji, but you really should explore the entire temple grounds as there’s a lot there that’s easy to overlook, such as the Nigatsu-do (February Hall) and other cool places.

It’s been really nice reading about your trips to various temples in Japan. I’m probably going there for two weeks in late march/beginning of april. Nara seems particularly nice, I really have to go there now :) Also I would really like to visit some Shingon temple/s if I can find any.

Never heard of the movie, though I did watch at least one or two of the “American Ninja” series of movies on Saturday Afternoon theater on TV when I was young(er) lad.
