XV background how-to
Posted: February 13, 2009 | Author: Doug | Filed under: Linux, Technology | Leave a comment »I had a random conversation today with my co-workers about the ancient Unix program xv
, when I later found an old email about how to use xv to change your background (single picture, centered in the middle):
xv -root -rmode 5 /path/to/picture -quit
Personally, I like using Eterm
and other such programs instead, since they have more friendly licenses, and are still supported, but I hear good things about another program called feh. Worth trying out if you’re still fighting with xv. My initial look at feh
shows that it really does have a nice look-and-feel similar to xv, so I liked it.
