As for Bank Holidays, amazingly I am always on-call during a Bank Holiday, or the weather's bad. I remember getting completely soaked in a shower during a walk but because of the heat getting dry again by the time I got home. One dangerous thing to watch out for is mudslides brought down by the rain. It was quite a problem in Kagoshima last year and no doubt many other places.
