The majority of my adult life in fact. So I have a slightly skewed sense of home. It's been a long time since I've been homesick. (Of course in many ways the UK isn't that much different to Dublin.) I never intended to stay so my roots aren't that deep. But I realised a few years back that I also can probably never go back to Ireland. Both it and me have changed, it's an unfamiliar place now. Oddly Japan (outside Tokyo) is the place I feel most at ease, but that might just be novelty or a holiday feeling... I’ve been in London for a long time now. The majority of my adult life in fact. Yeah, I kind of missed seeing the extended family for the 4th, but you're right in that the rest was just scenery.
