If you go to the sumo district, they will have your size. Or you can have them custom made (assuming you have a steady job). I don't know much about the martial arts world, but in the world of Japanese music (or any Japanese clothing situation somewhat on the formal side) yours do not fit right (sorry, just being fussy). At Isetan in Shinjuku, they have several shapes as well as sizes, and you can try on samples. Also, I have a book on sewing kimonos and such (aimed at non-Japanese) that has instructions for making tabi. Tabi are also the reason that when Koreans want to deprecate the Japanese, they can call them 豚足. I wonder what kind of sox Koreans wear...
