Mommy’s Bento Art 2

My previous post proved to be surprisingly popular, and I am happy to report that I have more examples of my wife’s fine bento art:

Mommy's Bento Art 4

This is my personal favorite. It shows two chestnuts (or acorns?) made of rice mixed with furikaké covered with sesame seeds. The faces are carefully cut from nori, which is toasted seaweed and quite tasty. At the top are carrot cut into hearts, edamamé and chicken nuggets.

Here is another one I like:

You are probably wondering why the bento box is different in this photo. Well, I broke the lid on the regular bento box one night while washing dishes, so we had to use the backup one. I was trying to fling out the water, but of course the lid is slippery, and I threw it hard on the floor where it shattered.

Anyway, this bento features a lady bug also made rice, furikaké and nori. I can’t remember what the whites of the eyes are, maybe eggs or kamaboko (fish cake, also pretty tasty). The flower is carefully sliced ham with a piece of cheese in the middle. The rest is broccoli, chicken nuggets, and star-shaped carrots. Notice the carrot fits into the potato slice too.

Good job, Mommy! :)

It is not ketchup, it’s furikake.

    Doh! I’ll fix that. ;-)
